Why 1/3/2010?

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

I never really wrote about how we chose our wedding date.

Originally we were thinking early October 2009, just because that was the earliest we could possibly have the wedding. Spring 2010 seemed so far away in March of 2008 and the winter was obviously out because the weather is bad.

Months later, Chris (Bryan’s brother) and Rae announced they were getting married in October. Obviously October was out. We weren’t officially engaged at that point, so October was a long shot anyway.

Summer 2010 was out because Bryan’s cousin was supposed to be getting married in Hawaii. I wasn’t all that crazy about Spring 2010, but it seemed like our only option.

Then I read a post on wedding plans about someone who was getting married in January. I was thinking about how pretty everything is in the winter and I started getting jealous until I realized that we could have a winter wedding. Why not? Sure there may be a snow storm, but there can be terrible weather any day of the year.

I did a little research and found that the first Saturday in January is the least busiest Saturday of the year for weddings. Also, it was right after New Year’s so people would be off from work the day before. We picked 1/2/2010 for a date.

As it turns out, our venue was booked for that day, but that Sunday was available and much cheaper. We had a date, we had a venue and everything has been sunshine and rainbows every since :)

Wedding Insurance

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Since my wedding’s in the winter, I’m looking into wedding insurance in the event of a major snow storm.
Here are two of the quotes I got by googling wedding insurance:

Wedsafe.com: $180
protectmywedding.com: $160

Actually reading this, I’d get wedding insurance even if I wasn’t getting married in the winter. There’s a good article on about.com.

All the things that can go wrong, it seems like a good idea. What if I get the flu for the first time on the day of my wedding? I might be really pissed, but at least we’d get our money back.

If you think about it, our wedding is going to cost more, probably, than all the items we have in our apartment, but we have renter’s insurance. And more things can go wrong with a wedding. It’s also more expensive, but I think it’s worth it.

Unfortunately they don’t offer protection if something happens to your pets. Princess, Buffy, stay healthy!

Because it’s a palindrome.
