Dres Shopping Part Seven

I ordered my dress!!!! But I’m not telling you which one. I’ll post the finalists and you’ll find out in nine months ;)

I’d just like to start by saying how evil David’s Bridal is. I didn’t think they were too bad when I went there a couple weeks ago, but they have been bugging me ever since. I checked the little box that says they and their partners do not have permission to contact me, but of course, they are anyway. It started with email spam and a newsletter I unsubscribed from … twice and now I’m getting calls too. Frell you David’s Bridal! I called the day before to cancel my appointment yesterday, I told them I already bought my dress. They called yesterday at 2 asking where I was. o_O And after reading other similar reviews, I can’t recommend them to anyone. I’ve also heard they overcharge for alterations that often aren’t that great. If you can put up with them, great, but if you don’t want to be bothered, stay away.

I do highly recommend Helen Bohn Bridals in Washington Township, where I purchased my dress. They’re the nicest people, have great prices that include alterations and I always hear people raving about them. They don’t allow pictures though, so I don’t have any of the dresses I tried on there.

Anyway, on to the dresses!

Let’s see, the first dress I loved was Maggie’s Martina. This one definitely looks the best on me out of all the dresses I tried on, but it also more plain. Probably why it looks better ;)

Then there was the Cosmobella which probably looked second best out of all the dresses, but had a little more to it than Martina.

The Allure that didn’t make my waist look as thin as the other two and didn’t have a sweetheart neckline, but definitely had some poof and sparkle.

There were three more dresses I tried on yesterday that were definitely finalists. All Maggies of course. I was going crazy trying to find these on the main site, I didn’t realize they moved the Soterro and Midgley collection to a separate domain, grrrr. I still can’t find one of them. It’s similar to Belina, but it came with an ugly sash that no one should ever wear with it.

This dress was ultra sparklie and looked amazing on me, especially this particular neckline.

And finally we have one very similar to the David’s Bridal dress, but with a longer bodice and a sweetheart neckline, so it looks better on me.

In the end, it came down to two of these finalists. I debated for about 15 minutes, but ultimately there was only one “the one.” Then I had to pick a color. That was even harder since I hadn’t tried it on in both colors, so it’s hard to say what would look better. I ended up going with the white based on the recommendation of my consultant, since that’s the color the sample was in and it looked good.

Anyone who can guess the dress gets bragging rights at the reception. Only my mom and one of my online friends know right now. I plan to tell Rachelle, since I put her through dress torture, but that’s all.
