In the morning Huei had a bunch of issues for this one project I’m backup for. I went to the meeting for that project and I told them she was taking care of it. She told the other app that they were using the wrong URL and to change it. She knew the other URL didn’t work though so she had already sent e-mails to the developers for help. Well, she left at noon because she was supposed to have the whole day off and I went to lunch.

When I came back, I had all these messages to join the war room to resolve the issue. So I called in to that. They were all, how come this is going back and forth, what are you doing to fix this?!?! Meanwhile, we had another meeting to discuss those issues and ones for other projects. So Maryam went to that and they started asking her questions so while I had my headset on for the one bridge, I was talking through Maryam’s phone on the other one too. I told them I was trying to contact a developer and everyone was freaking out! It’s not my fault that there’s a holiday in India and there are no developers! I’m sorry you were told that there would be development support today, but I’m not the one who promised you that. Also not my fault that all the servers were going down in a hour and a half so they had to stop testing then. That didn’t stop them from yelling at me though.

I was furiously trying to find someone to help. Why is it every time I have an issue, the person who’s supposed to fix it isn’t there and there aren’t any replacements? Huei was gone, Kashif was out of the office at the time, Jay wasn’t at his computer and the developer leads weren’t responding!

Kashif came back, I was so happy to see him. He went and called the developer leads. The one, he said, was almost crying because he didn’t have anyone who could help. All the developers were on vacation! The other one he called on his cell, he was able to help, thank God!

After an hour on the bridge, going back and forth with the UAT manager the PM and the other apps, the developer finally did something and everything worked! Or so we thought. When we came back from our status meeting at 3, the testing cutoff, the testers informed us that one test case worked and the other didn’t. They wouldn’t listen when we told them it could be because everything’s down, they wouldn’t listen when we told them that Kashif tested it and it worked fine from our end. No, they wanted to test it in ST even though we’re just JST/UAT and have nothing to do with ST. Wackos.

I was also supposed to greet a MATREX candidate and I missed that because of this. Pfft.

On a happy note, I had my review yesterday and it seems I’m doing a good job, yay :)

This was probably the worst day we’ve had at work so far. Still better than most days at school.

Today was crazy at work.
