I have respect for all people, including homosexuals and I believe that marriage is not for them. If they want to be united there are other ways that do not have to offend others’ beliefs and lifestyles.

If that’s your definition of marriage, then I don’t want to be married! Why should it be limited to homosexuals? Shouldn’t anyone who doesn’t believe in your God or follow your practices not have the right to be married under your definition of the word as well?

Marriage is a WORD. It means whatever the hell we want it to mean! If you don’t want people getting married in your church FINE! But if you get to define marriage how you want, shouldn’t everyone else have that right too? Why do you get to pick the definition of marriage? What the hell makes you so fucking special? You weren’t there first!

There is a difference, a big difference between religious marriage and legal marriage. Your religious organization can pick and choose whoever they want to marry or what marriages they want to recognize. Most people don’t have a problem with that. The government on the other hand has an obligation to treat all citizens of this country equally and right now, a big chunk of those citizens aren’t getting the same benefits as everyone else.

You want to call legal marriage a civil union? Fine, I think that’s really silly, but if that’s the only way to shut you up, then OK, we’ll call legal marriage a civil union. If we do it that way, then EVERYONE who is only legally married, must call it a civil union. I’m sure as hell not getting married in a “Holy ceremony,” so I must not be getting married then. You know what, as long as my friends, family and government legally recognize our relationship in the same way as your marriage, if you don’t want to call it a marriage, I’m OK with that. It’s a WORD! He’ll still be my husband and you’ll still be a poo head.

Marriage is just a word. It has different meanings to different people.
