So, I\u2019m turning 40. This post should be easier than my 20s post since I hardly ever blog anymore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let\u2019s see, Owen was already a person 10 years ago. Ishrat\u2019s housewarming party was that long ago? Wow. Well, I\u2019m still friends with her. She doesn\u2019t live in that house anymore. Owen still has unlimited energy. Oof, I was still trying to night wean him. Little did I know I\u2019d have to do that twice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh, that awful virus Owen had where he didn\u2019t eat for a month right before his birthday. I was reading Big Little Lies which is funny because I\u2019m reading another one of her books now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2016<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was a bridesmaid for Julia. Best Disney trip ever with our extended family and Owen just loving everything. Our MSO team got that award at work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2017<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ah, the great search for Woody. He was lost, we looked everywhere, Owen knew he was inside his Buzz Lightyear costume the whole time. I got to work on Q messenger, got my Machine Learning Nano Degree and D\u2019CAEML was born. Oh, we went to Disney Land with Bryan\u2019s family. That was fun. The kids had a great time running around and Owen thought he was best buds with Mickey and Minnie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2018<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Owen hurt his mouth, the ramifications of which include still having to wear his retainer. Papi passed away :( We went to Disney and Colorado. Oh, right, I had just found out I was pregnant again before Colorado. I guess I also had that cyst that would later destroy my ovary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was pregnant and miserable, but Glenn was born, yay! I started on that other ML project with Willa. Oh, the open office space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Well, I think we all know what happened in 2020. At least I got to work from home and spend time with the kids? Too much time? I got my Azure Developer certification. I said I liked the movie Superintelligence and I don\u2019t remember watching that at all. What was that about? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ha ha, yeah, Covid toe. Wonder if that had anything to do with my b12. Got vaccinated. We went to Lego Land. My mom had her car accident. Grammy went with us to Disney. That was a rough trip. Glenn isn\u2019t as good in theme parks as Owen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I started working with The Dream Finders! Who knew they\u2019d turn out to be the best team ever and (probably?) life long friends. I bought my first new car. We got the bunk bed for the kids. They overturned Roe v Wade, still mad about that. We went to Legoland and Disney again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After years of painful periods, I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis and had my poor ovary removed. Oh God, and the stomach virus afterwards. I think that was the most sick I\u2019ve ever been in my life. Flex Force was dismantled and we started working in EASE. Found out nearly our whole team was being told to move or be laid off. Went to wildwood and Disney. Oh yeah, we had to go back into the office. Little did we know we\u2019d long for 3 days a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I became involved in the band again. Presented at the software symposium. Said tearful goodbyes to my coworkers. Went to legoland, wildwood, Disney. Oh, the drones, ha. I think everyone\u2019s forgotten about those already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We killed it at our software symposium presentation this year. Still in the band. Found out I have pernicious anemia and will need b12 injections forever. We\u2019re in the office five days and they track us with a report that doesn\u2019t work at all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ten years ago\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I said in this decade I hoped I would have another baby, hey, we did that. I didn\u2019t plan to ever leave AT&T, and whadya know, I\u2019m still there. of course I mentioned it was nice to work from home \u2026 which we can\u2019t right now \u2026 I wanted to get a dog, but noted that might not happen until after the second kid aaaaand we still don\u2019t have one. Of course I\u2019m never home now and the boys don\u2019t seem too keen. I wanted to do another show at some point, and I have not, also noted that may be difficult with the kids. I was looking forward to our first trip to Disney with Owen and indeed it was a magical experience. Overall I just wanted to spend as much time with my family as possible and I think I fulfilled that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next time I do this, Owen will be an adult which is so weird. Hopefully I\u2019ll have enough money saved for college for them. Some college? A month of college? One textbook, each. I don\u2019t think we\u2019re getting a dog unless they let us work from home again, which will eventually happen, maybe. I\u2019ll probably still be at AT&T. I do not want to stay in EASE for the next ten years. Maybe I\u2019ll get a security certification like Samy suggested. Or maybe AI will really take over my job and do it very poorly. Maybe I\u2019ll do another show? We\u2019re gonna do Vegas for 50, right? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
