3:36am
You wake up and use the bathroom. You get a drink of water. Your throat feels bleh. Yup, you’re a little sick. Darn. You get back into bed, but have some trouble sleeping, so you bring your Kindle and tripod over and read for a few minutes. You’re reading Children of Time, it’s ok so far. Better than Gemini’s last couple of suggestions. You don’t get far, you’re too tired, you go back to sleep.
7:07am
Maybe you can sleep some more. … Nope you hear at least one of the kids get up, so you get up and go make breakfast. The jetpack app is not working, the WordPress app is not working. Fine you’ll just use a browser. Ah, laundry, you need to wash the delicates first, then breakfast.
The boys are up and playing video games downstairs. It’s Yom Kippur, so they don’t have school and you decided to take off work. Kinda a waste of a vacation day when you could have taken a sick day, but maybe you’ll feel better later and go out.
Glenn tries to convince you there’s a poisonous spider downstairs. It’s either orange or red and therefore, poisoness. He gives you a hug. Your leg hurts. Too much kick in the kick boxing yesterday? Feels like walking will help it.

Glenn says he’s gonna barf and wants tummy tea and a barf bucket. You tell him not to eat so much junk at Grandma and Grandpa’s. He wants his chicken fingers though. Hmm, can you use the grill and air fryer at the same time without tripping the circuit breaker? You decide no.

Glenn wants more fries. Guess his tummy feels better.
You tell Glenn after breakfast, he should practice piano. You’ve both been learning keyboard with the simply piano app. You’ve been using it since the beginning of the year, but he just started. You’re using your old keyboard you’ve had for like 30 years, so on your todo today was too look at better keyboards, with weighted keys, but, yeah, you don’t feel great. Might just be a buy new sneakers for Owen day. The kids were like 100% better by the evening the second day they were sick, maybe you’ll be too. You throw the delicates in the dryer.
8:52am
You take some Tylenol. You’re not dealing with this headache again today. You brush your teeth. Glenn is running down to the basement barking like a dog, you tell him no, piano. He’s trying to make you think he’s a dog again like he did the other day. You really thought a dog somehow got into the house.
The app has him do the Rocky song again to get golden notes. He’s doing much better today because he’s focusing so hard. He’s one golden note short and gets frustrated. “There’s toys under where you’re sitting.” Huh? Oh, there are. He puts them away. He gives you a big hug.

He’s doing “Playful Hippo” again. He’s having a hard time differentiating between A and G. “Mountain King” again.
Glenn comes back up. He seems sad, you’re not sure why. You ask if he wants to play piano some more, he just sulks. You go cuddle him. He wants to play. “I’m the music guy and you’re the customer.” No, he doesn’t want to play that. “We can’t play house, someone messed everything up!” Well, you needed a barf bucket, so you spilled everything out. He does want to play music thing again.
You help him move the nugget. “This is trifficult.” Apparently you’re sitting in the music shop and you need to go to your house (the couch). And now the party started so you need to go back to the music shop.
You need to play keepy uppy when he blows the whistle and stop when he blows it again – on the keyboard. It’s harder than it sounds. You go check on the laundry and when you come back, he changed the keyboard from drumkit to French horn. He pops the balloon and blows up another. It eventually falls behind the chair in his turn. You ask if this game is over now. He says it’s snack time, so you get him some goldfish.
He agrees to do a walk after his snack. Let’s see if you can get Owen too. No, he’ll do squats and stuff with you later he says. You out the laundry away while you listen to the Delta Flyers podcast and then get dressed.
10:19am
You go back downstairs. Glenn is still eating his snack. You get him some water. Oh, picture day is tomorrow. You tell Glenn, Dada has to cut your hair man.
You go practice piano some more. He says he’s too tired to go for a walk. Guess you’re going by yourself. You have your leftover eggplant for lunch. You hear Glenn playing with his legos downstairs. You ask him again if he wants to go for a walk. No, but he wants cheese and chips for lunch. Maybe you’ll eat some of his chicken fingers. He has plenty. You have some and leave some for another meal. You ask Owen again what he wants.
Glenn wants to play house again. He tells you to setup your house. The nugget knocks down the rainbow thing. PITA rainbow thing held on by a magnet. You put it up and setup your house. Owen startles Glenn and Glenn hits him. You tell him to Stop! You like being startled, why are you hitting him?
Owen wants Cheerios with almond butter, you help him with that and chastise him for puting the spoon on his mouth before you can out it in the almond butter. You get him a fresh spoon.
Glenn sets up your “house” and you play.

Owen gives you a hug. You tell him to brush his teeth and get dressed.
Glenn’s version of house is very violent. Pichu attacks and the music man attacks and takes all his money. After 40 minutes of this, you tell him you’re going to go wash your face and then you’ll go out for that walk.
He wants to take his scooter out, his bike is hard to pedal all of a sudden for some reason. You remind him that his hair gets caught in his helmet. He’ll just walk. It’s a beautiful day out. You see Connor’s door is open. Glenn wants to go over and play with him instead. You go and get his scooter and helmet for him. You forgot your hat. You go back for it. It’s very sunny. You leave a walkie talkie with him.

You walk around for a bit listing to the podcast. He calls on the walkie talkie saying he needs a bandaid because he scratched himself. It’s so small, you tell him he’s fine, but he wants water, you go get him water. The lawn people are cutting the grass. Makes it annoying to listen to the podcast.
He calls you again to tell you that last time he was outside while they were cutting grass, his throat hurt. You ask if he wants to go home, he doesn’t. You go home to get some water for yourself. You hear Bryan downstairs, you tell him Glenn is outside playing with Connor.
You ask Owen when he wants to go shoe shopping. He says when the movie’s over in 15 minutes. Unless Bryan wants to take him, cause he’d have a better idea of what to buy, or not. He says not to cheap out. Ok, you weren’t going to. You go back over by Glenn.
You have good timing because Connor needs to go in for lunch and the lawn guys are really taking over the area. You come home and tell Owen he has to put on socks so he can try on shoes.
You drive to the store and there’s a useful little kiosk where you can look up the type of shoe you want and the size. Owen says he wants something soft. You tell him there’s nothing cushier than a Hoka. You tell him to pick another shoe too. You pick ones in his size and up a size.
They are clearly way to small, so you get a whole size up. The Nikes are still too small. The Hoka seem ok. Are they ok? Do they fit? “I don’t know.” Are the slipping up and down? “I don’t know.” Are they too big? Too small? “I don’t know.” He’s driving you crazy. He’s also frustrated because he’s not getting how to tie them. You swear this kid knew how to tie his shoes once upon a time. Ok, these seem good. You buy the shoes.

You tell him he has to practice tying the shoes for like an hour when he gets home.
At home, you show him some YouTube videos. You keep telling him double bunny ears is the easiest way to go. He’s not getting this around the loop business. Bryan tries to show him. He finally does the double bunny ears. Now he’s having trouble with the shoe on his foot. You have a feeling your $100 investment is going to be wasted.
Glenn wants to play house again. You tell Owen to take a break and try again later.
Glenn is your neighbor. Then he’s a guy who tries to steal your house. He gets bored, so you go exercise. You’re not sure what you should do since you think you’ll do your hiit strength workout tomorrow. Maybe mostly abs, usually what you do Mondays. Hopefully you get time to exercise at the gym tomorrow.

4:30pm
You watch lower decks while you exercise. This show can be really good when it’s good. It’s a shame they didn’t keep going with it. Does anything get more than 5 seasons and 10 episodes a season these days?
Owen comes in and watches with you while you exercise. You tell him you’re not going to torture him by making him exercise since you tortured him with the laces. Glenn comes in too and hugs you while you’re exercising.
When you’re done, you make Owen tie his shoes again. It goes better this time. Glenn’s finishing his chicken fingers. Bryan cuts his hair while he’s waiting for the food to cook. Bryan has to go finish dinner, he’ll come back to Glenn’s hair. Glenn asks you to go get dessert for him. He wants those little bites things, bleh.
Owen complains that the anti itch stuff you put on his mosquito bites must have come off. Yes, it only lasts a few hours. “What’s the point then??” You don’t itch for a few hours. He’s now slapping himself. You give him an ice pack to help.
Bryan comes back to cut more of Glenn’s hair, so you go clean the grill plates and tea strainer. Glenn keeps pushing his hair out of the way which makes it very difficult to cut. You make a joke that we can cut his hair like a Vulcan. Somehow you end up in a discussion about Vulcan logic and Surak.
“what does the back of my head look like?”

Glenn’s itchy and wants to take a bath. But you want to eat. You get him started in the bath and then take some ziti. Who’s gonna eat all your cheese without Glenn here. Oops, you forgot to take his towel down for him.
Bryan talk about how people are panicking because of a patent Microsoft filed and you discuss how still it is some of the things you can patent. Yes, your patents are proof of this. You split the tomato sauce own leaves behind between the two of you. Owen stand on a step stool to get to his chocolate. Guess we need a new housing place. Kid can’t control himself with chocolate.
Bryan’s been watching police bodycam footage and stuff. He talks about how stupid some of these criminals are. Especially how often they text their crimes to people, like the police aren’t going to be able to see the texts.
6:30pm
You remind Owen he needs to take a bath. You go for another walk to help digest. It’s chilly out now and getting dark already. The Delta Flyers keep you company again. The neighbor kid stops you on your way in and asks where Glenn is. Playing inside. “Why?” He was outside earlier. “You have two boys!” Yes, the other one is also inside, he doesn’t like to play outside.
You go shower. You actually remember to take it your contacts first this time. Apparently you should have been doing that for the last 20 years. Your phone reminds you you’re supposed to setup Bryan’s DVC today on his phone. Damn, you forgot again. That’s good happen before your trip.
You go downstairs to see if the boys want to play. But Glenn is finishing up some world of Warcraft things and Owen needs to take a bath. You tell Owen to go bath. You suggest to Glenn we do piano while we wait for Owen.
He reluctantly agrees to do a couple songs. He gives up on the golden notes again, which is frustrating, because you just want him to learn persistence.
You go upstairs and Glenn asks you to put up the mattress slide. And he hatches into a baby monster. The baby monster takes your baby tiger and plays tag with it. Eventually you get into a lightsaber fight, but the other zookeeper (also Glenn) sees you and insinerates your animal friends as punishment. The other monster hatches (Owen) and tries to stop the evil zookeeper. Even the police (also Owen) can’t stop him. Eventually the police throw the zookeeper in the incinerator. The baby monsters rejoice and all the animals, as it turns out, are not incinerated.
The timer goes off. It is reading time, Glenn gets water, you get him leg medicine. He spills water on the seat in his room, so you go read in your bed. He picks three books and is very silly while you film him.
8:10pm
You kick him out of your room so you can change and tell him to brush his teeth. You pack your gym bag for tomorrow. You two do a bedtime math problem and then cuddle. He hugs you as you walk to his room for more cuddles. He says he loves you, you say you love him too. You ask him what he wants for lunch and breakfast. Bryan comes in and you warn him the thing is wet.
You go downstairs and ask Owen if you’re watching Star Trek. “Yes” yay! You tell him he can put it on. You go make yourself some minty comfort tea and overnight oats for you and Glenn for tomorrow.
You watch Enterprise with Owen while you use your neck massager and drink your tea. You’re shipping T’Pol and Trip. They’re so stinkin’ cute. Thanks to Lower Decks, you have spoilers.
After star trek, Owen packs his lunch and you brush your teeth and take your pill. You cuddle on the couch. Owen reads what you’re writing. Owen says he loves Mama.

9:50pm
You tell Owen, it is time to go to bed. He cries like a baby monster and goes upstairs to read. You tell him Dada is up there sleeping, your sure he’ll make noise anyway.
You go back downstairs to watch some more TV before bed. You finished lower decks, so you’ll see what’s on Netflix. Omg, what did Owen do to your Netflix, it’s full of all kids movies. The Lizzie Borden thing is supposed to be good, maybe not tonight. I guess it’s either that or My Life With the Walter Boys. You’d love to watch Wicked, but they only have the second one and you haven’t seen the first movie .. though you did see the show, but, still. Ok, Walter Boys it is, meh. You’ll just be editing this thing anyway. You stretch a little then head upstairs to bed.
You tell Owen he needs to stop reading and go to sleep. You use your back massage mat while you read and then go to sleep.
