Well, I guess it’s day 1 and 2, though it feels like one day since I didn’t sleep. I got maybe 40 minutes on the plane and spent the rest of the time trying to sleep :D So uncomfortable. Last couple hours went by crazy slow. Before boarding they swabbed my hands while I was going through security. Anyone know why? All I can figure is they were looking for drugs or bomb residue or something.

Once we got here we were starving, so we ate at the first restaurant we found. Food was pretty yummy. We got pizza, of course. Afterwards we went and got sim cards for our phones. I got data with mine, but it sucks because the GPS seems almost useless here. We seemed to find where we were going eventually, but the phone didn’t help all that much.

After a group nap, we left for the Trevi Fountain because we didn’t know what else to do. Crazy crowded over there. There was much debate over what restaurant we should eat at. We didn’t go to a place on my list because the one place we found didn’t open until 8 and peoples was already hungry. The place we did eat at was OK, but nothing extraordinary. The gelato after was pretty damn good. I got peanut butter and chocolate. I wanted to try the fig, but I couldn’t decide which flavor went best with the fig. It was delicious regardless.

We looked in some shops for a while and then headed back. About half way we became distrustful of our sense of direction and hailed a cab. Turns out we were going the right way and were pretty close to the hotel.

Now it’s bed time. Wish me luck.

  1. Wow, how much are you paying to get internet/phone service there? Sorry about your flight and all, though. :( I don’t know about swabbing, that’s actually the first time I’ve heard about that, hmm. Anyway, hope the rest of your days goes well! I don’t really have any suggestions for you… Haha.

  2. That’s one thing I remember about being in France many years ago – they eat dinner very late! And they eat for hours at a time, but they eat more slowly than we do and lots of conversation. Not sure how that translates to present-day Italy.

Have lots of fun and bring back lots of memories!
