Last night was awesome! We were an hour “late” to the party, but we were the first ones there :D By 9:00 there were a good amount of people there and fun ensued. There were legos and nerf guns and lots and lots of alcohol. I only needed a cup of wine to make the legos very difficult. I was a little surprised by that considering how much food I ate.
Behold the epicness on facebook. What made the party even more special was that Bryan and I were there together :) First time ever! We were together last year, but I went to bed at 10:00, doesn’t really count.

As great as the party was and as great at Rachie’s will be tomorrow, I ate way too much yesterday and I’m sure I will eat too much tomorrow because I have no self control when it comes to good food. And considering how much weight I’ve gained this year, I thought it would be a good idea to start the blogging off this year with some fitness/healthy eating posts.

I’ll start with the first piece of advice I give to anyone who’s not currently very active who wants to lose weight: wear a pedometer. Cheap and simple. Of course you have to wear it with the intention of being more active. Record how many steps you usually take in a day and try to up the number every week. 10,000 steps a day is a good number, unless you’re already doing that, then up the steps or up the intensity. That’s how I lost about 8 pounds before our wedding, but I haven’t worn the pedometer since our honeymoon. I should take my own advice.

  1. Seems like everyone has weight issues nowadays! One of my New Year’s Resolution is to lose weight this year, and exercise more (the actual resolution is to exercise daily, but I probably won’t make that :P), so I’ll definately read your fitness/health-related posts! :P Personally, the only thing that actually gets me to exercise properly is Zumba. I know it’s the current hype, but it is really fun too. I don’t go to those classes though, I just bought the videos, and do the Zumba Express workout every day (takes about 20min, which is exactly the amount of time I have every day to spend on exercise).

  2. That picture is awesome. Sounds like a great time!
I agree about the pedometer. My husband has one and he loves it!

  3. It is always difficult to control oneself around good food. The advice to wear a pedometer is a good one :) Also adjusting your usual activities to make you walk more and farther really help to, like getting off the bus one stop earlier, instead of driving to places which are 5-10mins by car walk instead

  4. Congratulations on finding what worked for you and losing those eight pounds. :) I think we all have at least one time in life when we think we should take our own advice. It’s never too late, I’m sure you can pick that pedometer up again. Think about it though, sometimes you need to treat yourself to a little good food every once in a while.

I had a boring New Years Eve. I just stayed at home, but that’s okay with me. :) I’m not really one for parties.
