Last weekend I had to be on a conference call while they deployed the code for our projects :( 7:30-9:30 and then I had to call back again at 10:30 and 12:15 when they were testing to make sure my part worked. Bryan wasn’t awake yet anyway, so I really didn’t have anything else to do. I managed to finish my wordpress plugin in between calls.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get paid overtime. Nope. I was progressed the Monday before so I am no longer non-exempt. Though my raise is more money than the overtime would have been… probably. Certainly less of a headache with the time reporting systems.
Later, we went shopping and saw Get Smart at a theater near our apartment that we didn’t know existed!
I’ve been pretty busy at work this past week. Programming in C X( Anyone who’s been reading my blog for a while knows how I feel about C. And you wouldn’t believe what these files look like. Their names are just letters and numbers and they aren’t in any sort of order. I spent two days just trying to find the right files to edit. And then, well, you know, it’s in C and with few comments. I have a feeling when I go to test this stuff, nothing will work at all.
To add to the craziness this week, the 32 new MATREX people started on Monday. Yeah, 32. I knew there was going to be a lot of them, but when I walked into that conference room, I was like, woah. None of them came to happy hour yesterday though. Party poops. I don’t get to be a mentor this time around :( Too many people volunteered. It’s OK, I shall in part my wisdom through my amazing links page. The same links page that will probably bring many of the MATREX people to this site come Monday… heh, sorry I called you party poops!
Tuesday is our picnic :D Yay for half day of work, bbq and throwing water balloons! I get to score the water balloon contest :D And of course, Friday is a holiday! And I get paid!
Wow! Congratulations on finishing the WP plugin!!
Wow, sorry to hear about work… I haven’t coded in C for a loong while, but PHP is sort of like C… Sort of. Haha.
And wow, nice about the picnic and a paid holiday! Lucky you! Hehe! It sounds like you’re going to have a great week! =) Enjoy this weekend!
PHP is NOTHING like C. I LOVE PHP to death.
I want water balloons :( *is sad now* I also hate C. *stabs it* And Elissa is right, php is the AWESOMEST! :D
That is a lot of new people to start xD But I guess it depends where you work lol. I know whenver I worked overtime it was a pain in the ass trying to get them to pay me for it! :P You got lucky with the raise!
MATREX? I once worked on a project called MATREX. Mine involved terrible things called horribly scary names like OTB and OOS and C3Grid and GAK (that last one I made up… it was the sound my soul made while sitting on teleconferences).
