Back in Skinny Jeans- Window shopping: Fun or Frustrating?
Yes, I instantly remembered that episode Megan mentioned when I read this post… I believe it’s true, going to the right stores is less depressing than going where everything is beautiful, but the sizes are so (sorry to said this) stupidly small… I know people in size 8 and they are thin… But less than that, what do you have to do? Take a rib off?
Personally, I am more and more tempted to organize people near to me and write to this designers that are forcing everyone to believe you have to be a bag of bones and skin to use their clothes. Absurd, really… But of course, it’s a fantasy, they would never listen…
Y’know, the Betsy Johnson thing pisses me off. Yes, the clothes are pretty, cute, and colorful, but they’re designed for women with bodies like twigs. What does it say about a designer or manufacturer that they create a demand/desire for something that most women won’t be able to wear? I hate what gets implied, the exclusivity of the clothing.
I don’t call people who wear over a certain size “fat,” so please don’t call anyone under a 6 a “twig.” I’m short and a normal weight for my height. And actually, up until recently, my waist to hip ratio was slightly higher than what would be considered optimally healthy.
I know these girls were trying to make a point, but other people commented and made the same point without putting others down. I wouldn’t even care, except I always see complaints on these sites about people making remarks about their weight.
You want to be respected? You want people to accept you for who you are? Then be a grownup and do the same.
I don’t starve myself. I eat. I eat a lot. Yes, I’ll say no to that extra piece of cake and I won’t have dessert after dinner if I had cold stone for lunch, but I certainly don’t deprive myself. I lost that extra inch around my waist I think, mostly because we’ve cut way back on salt and HFCS. I also try to eat good fats which are supposed to be good for the tummy. I take fish oil every day which I must say is like a miracle pill. Helps with hormones like you wouldn’t believe. I also exercise a lot, but that’s mostly been good for toning and letting me eat like a piggy.
In conclusion, I am not a twig, but a pig, what? No, no. I’m a person. A little person, but I still count.

Ah, I know whaty ou mean about the Betsy Johnson stuff!! I actually just finally stuffed a lot of the clothes I wore/didn’t wear and packed it ready to be donated because often I would buy it, and they don’t give you that margin of stretch-ness in the materials. It clings so close that it feels like you’re suffocating. The views are definitely still switching but too slowly… thin is still in unfortunately.
Yep, I know what you mean. I don’t really care if someone’s fat or not, actually. I eat a lot too, but I don’t really watch what I eat like you. Like skipping dessert because you had Coldstone kind of thing. LOL.
