It’s very rare that I get down the shore during the summer, and here, the summer hasn’t even started yet, and I’ve been to the boardwalk already. Rachie and Chris had the fabulous idea to visit the aquarium on Saturday. We saw fishes and penguins and seals, alligators, parrots and monkeys. Yes, there were monkeys at the aquarium.

We walked along the boardwalk for a while, shopped a little, sat and chatted. We had dinner there. I was terrible this week food wise. I made crazy, whacky, chocolatey concoctions for dessert. I had a fried eggplant sandwich at the boardwalk and smores fudge for dessert. Sunday we ate at Uno’s and I had the half serving for dinner, but of course, there was dessert. I’m not doing much better this week. More fried eggplant for lunch yesterday plus the banana bread Jenny brought in and I already mixed up a new and interesting oatmeal+sugar+chocolate thing for dessert tonight.

Why? I have been seriously craving bad foods and I don’t seem to care that I’m eating them. Normally I’d make myself feel guilty enough that I’d stop, but I feel nothing but the joy of eating yummy things. This will probably last for a couple weeks past my birthday, fueled by Emily’s cake, at which point I will have gained ten pounds and regained enough self control to diet again.

On the bright side, I haven’t been breaking out nearly as much as usual. I think it’s the extra omega3s from the chia seeds plus my extra gentle face soap.

I’m glad I got to see Rachie since I haven’t seen her in a while. And I get to see her next weekend and the weekend after that and the weekend after that too! Yay!

  1. Oh I totally know what you mean with the snacking thing. We just have to persist on and try and think about it before we eat it. It’s so hard with so many tasty things around!!

I wish I could go to an aquarium. I guess it’s kind of like the zoo, but way better! :D

  2. Ooh what kind of face soap are you using? Everything I use irritates me or leaves me not feeling all that clean. :-)

    1. Cetaphil
I did feel like it wasn’t getting my face clean, but obviously it’s working

  3. Monkeys at the aquarium? Awesome XD

I have weeks where I don’t monitor my food intake at all, too… I just eat what I want to eat when I want to eat it. Then after a while I’ll snap back into a more healthy eating pattern =P

Glad you’re not breaking out as much as usual! Omega3 really does wonderful things for your skin ^^

  4. I love aquariums! I wish I had a better camera to take better pictures at aquariums though. :P I love the zoo just as much.

It’s not bad to have yummy things every now and then! I told myself I’d stop eating chocolate this month but I’ve had some cookies and a couple of pieces here and there. Sometimes we deserve a treat, and we aren’t that strict because we know we deserve it. ;)

    1. that’s true. I do deserve cookies! :P and maybe the ice cream that’s in the freezer here at work…
