OK, it’s bad enough that the people of California have banned gay marriage, but this I did not know: “Gay marriage bans also passed in Arizona and Florida on Tuesday, along with an Arkansas ban on adoption by anyone except a married man and woman.”

WTF Arkansas?!? What the hell is wrong with people?!?

Isn’t our country supposed to be about freedom and equality? Except for the people we disagree with, obviously. Just because something is against your religion, or makes you uncomfortable, does NOT give you the right to dictate how other people live their lives. They aren’t hurting anyone. They deserve to be happy. They have the right to be happy. They are entitled to their own beliefs and the same legal rights as everyone else.

  1. This is a very confusing topic for me. Yes, I believe that everyone, no matter who you are, should have equal rights. If I was going to take the religious route, it may possibly differ my thinking.

I thought that this proposition definitely wouldn’t pass in California. I guess the religious groups really came out.

  2. Woah, the adoption one… DAMN! Yeah… The Prop 8 thing for us… I only know 1 person, personally, who wanted it to pass… Well, I’m judging based on people’s status’ on Facebook. =P

  3. zomg terrible :( i’ve always felt so proud living in new zealand where civil unions are legal.

truth about the religious groups though, i guess majority wins.

  4. This country will always do stupid things like that just because they exercise the “right” to. No one should be deprived of their rights as a human being.

  5. I’m puzzled by the move too. While everyone welcomed Obama to be the new US president, other states in the US embraces anti-gay rights. I just couldn’t wrap my brain around the whole thing. My stand on homosexuality (in fact, anything that has to do with LGBT) is that it’s people’s choice and way of living – no rules or regulations can ever have the right to control them in one way or another, or deprive them of the rights of any other human beings.

I hate it when church forces the whole religious thing into politics. They should be separate entites – politics is about governing the people and the society as a whole, while religion is a very personal issue. They lie at two extremes of the spectrum. What an individual believe, whether when it comes to homosexuality to whether aliens from Vega landed in his lawn yesterday night, is his BELIEF. It’s his personal choice and he shouldn’t try to IMPOSE that belief upon someone else. So with the same argument, I don’t see why churhces and religious extremists should make people belief that being gay is wrong.

The laws that they’ve passed will deny homosexuals from the same rights as any other human being. Where did equality go? Although Obama didn’t say he is in agreement with same-sex marriages, he promised to make sure that people with different sexual preferences are treated equally. I hope he can trash that stupid laws into oblivion…

To those who voted for Prop 8, you are low-life losers who are acting like heterosexual supremacists. How does this differ from being a white supremacist against people of a different skin colour? Gay is the new black… how tragic :(
