Work! Yeah, can you believe that?

First there’s the new app I was assigned to. The people on the other side, they changed some stuff without telling us and we’re like, wtf? We’re supposed to have it fixed by January, but that’s impossible. So we’re doing it by March. Well, OK, I’m not doing it, the current developer who I’m taking over for will be doing it, but I’m there for moral support.

Then there’s the stuff I’ve been working on. They left out a bunch of stuff in the requirements and they email me yesterday saying these changes need to be done for this release this Saturday. I say fine, that should be easy. And it was. Except I can’t test it. Something is wrong with my testing environment, and I have absolutely no clue what. I logged in yesterday and all my applications were missing. I redeployed them, but nothing is working. Argh.

So ST created an MR, but there was all this other stuff I had to add to. I made the changes but uh… I can’t test! And neither can ST because the additional stuff wasn’t for tomorrow, it was for February and the stuff to test it with isn’t ready yet. … Got all that?

So I made the changes and didn’t submit anything because the tester told me to wait.

Oh and I went back to the dentist today, they made me wait an hour and the assistant comes in and says it will be another 20 minutes. … GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! I rescheduled the appointment because I had to get back to work and deal with the above, but I don’t think I’m going back there again. My teeth are clean enough, screw it.

  1. Ooh, sorry to hear about all of that work stuff! And the testing environment too! Something’s going on with my connection and the live server, so I can’t really do anything and test either, unless it’s on the test server… =/ I have to go check that out.

=/ Sorry to hear about the dentist. I haven’t had mine’s cleaned for… Hmm, I’ll say over a year ago… Or actually 2 years ago, ok, that’s more like it. LOL. I knew it had to be longer than a year! =P

  2. Sounds like when things can go wrong, they do go wrong!! It sucks when you can’t test it live. I’m currently dealing with some crappy stuff with my developer for our site and application for our database, and sometimes I think he’s not the brightest bulb of the bunch.

I hate it when the dentist, eye examiner, medical “professions” make you wait… if they can only time things, then everything would be moving instead of stealing time out of people’s lives. It’s like almost when you want to attend one of those professions, half of your day must be dedicated to them.

  3. One thing I hate about going to the doctor/dentist, is when they overbook! And then it takes forever for you to get see them. And then they rush you out :| We might as well have free health care, haha.

  4. Wow, I have no idea what all that means but best of luck with it! lol.

Sucks about the dentist. Sounds like they need to get their act together. No one should have to wait that long!
