Before I get to my rant, I did have a lovely weekend with family gatherings, yummy food, and a free iPod touch. My skin broke out, but it’s healing quickly without any infections and/or oozing.

OK, on to the rant:

I hate people! No, let me rephrase that, I hate people that make life more difficult. This includes stupid people, bad drivers, and people that make me wait to do my work until three days before the code is due. Or people who volunteer their domain to be the first to do the upgrade. These people SUCK! Oh and people who CC me on stuff I don’t need to be CC’d on. They suck too.

But back to the stupid people …

On the internets this week I’ve seen people whining about the stupid soda/sugar tax. Here too. Obviously I don’t care since I don’t drink soda or other disgusting drinks, but that’s not the point. Soda is one of the worst things you can put in your body. Forget the empty calories, the stuff is poison in large quantities. If you’re drinking enough of it that the soda tax actually would effect you at all, either you’re drinking way too much soda or you’re poor and shouldn’t be wasting your hard earned money on such crap anyway. Yeah, it shouldn’t be the government’s place to tell us what we should/shouldn’t be doing with our bodies, but obviously the majority of the population is too fucking stupid to have any self control at all. Everything IS fine in moderation. Americans don’t know what the hell moderation is. Besides, it’s not like they’re banning soda. You can still drink it, it would just be a few pennies more.

Why they wouldn’t tax diet soda too is beyond me. Because diet soda is a necessity, but regular soda isn’t??? Diet soda is just as bad, if not worse than regular soda, unless you have diabetes or something. I’m not one of those freaks that thinks a little bit of aspartame or splenda will give you cancer, but with the amount of diet soda some people drink … It does eventually kill the rats if they give them enough. Yeah, you can die from too much water too, but it’s much harder to do. The amount of people who drink too much water is much smaller than the amount of people that drink too much soda.

And you know, I wouldn’t really mind if they started taxing all sugar and junk food. Yeah, I eat that crap, but they’re not necessities. If the government needs money, I rather they tax me on crap that’s harmful to me than on my income. Though I guess that really wouldn’t be fair to poor people, because everyone needs a little ice cream or chocolate now and then. People can live without soda.

Alternative 8 sill seems like ti would be the best solution though: “Another alternative is to drop subsidies to corn and sugar growers. Or grant subsidies/contracts to companies and industries we do like.” Why haven’t they done this?
