I had so much fun on Friday working on the xsl for this timestamp thing. See, the system was sending in the timestamp in a particular format and my application needed to send the timestamp to the PM which needed the timestamp in a different format so it could put it into the database. My application doesn’t format the message in the Java code, it uses xslt. I had no idea you could use Java in xsl and I just thought it was the coolest thing ever. It was really hard to do, but I managed to format the timestamp, timezone and all, with just the xsl and didn’t need to write extra java code. The reason it was so hard was because, well, for one I had no idea you could do this, so I had no idea how to do this. The other reason was because if it didn’t like a piece of code I put in, it would just tell me it couldn’t compile the style sheet, it wouldn’t say why. It took eight hours, but I did it and I was really excited about it.

Yeah, you probably didn’t follow that, but just know that I am in fact, a total geek.

Yesterday Bryan and I went with a couple of my coworkers and their friends to Mountain Creek Water Park. The lines were absolutely insane. We were there all day and only got to go on like five rides or something. It also didn’t help that big groups of people kept cutting in line. Seriously, wtf, you’re adults! The rides were pretty good though. Not quite worth the wait, but nothing would be. For the last ride, we got on the line around 5:00. By the time we were actually on the ride it was 7:00 and the water was freezing! It was a good ride, but it would have been more fun if not for the wait and the cold.

Because we waited so long, we were very late to Helen and Darian’s party and absolutely starving by the time we got there. I think we ate all the leftover food they had. Cold peperoni pizza never tasted so good. I don’t even like peperoni, but I swear it was the best pizza ever. The funny thing is, I didn’t even feel hungry until I started eating. Chlorine does weird things to my appetite.

  1. Haven’t learned XSL yet, but a friend of mine’s told me about it awhile back. Wow, I wouldn’t have known that you could use Java in XSL either… Ahaha, I don’t remember any Java though. =P

Anyways, wow, I haven’t been to a water park in over 6 years!!

You’re making me hungry with your pizza talk… =( Especially when I’ve always been craving pepperoni pizza. Ahah, yes, I know you don’t like it, but I do. =P

  2. Haha I love you! I double majored in math and computer science. I understand. :P I’m a total geek too. I hate going to water parks when it’s crowded. I go to the one by me when it’s drizzling outside. Nobody thinks to go to a waterpark during the drizzle but they’re open and I feel like I have the whole place to myself!
