Due to my crazy record keeping, I can actually do this. I call it, An Ode to the 00’s: A Look Back at the Last Ten Years of my insignificant life. It seems that every year since 99 my life got better and better. Hope the trend continues!
December ’99:
My grandma, my dad’s mom, died 10 years ago. She lived with us and helped raised me, so we were really close. Needless to say, that was a pretty crappy Christmas. I remember I was allowed to open one of my presents early that year. My leather jacket that I knew I was getting. I wore it when we drove to my grandpa’s, my mom’s dad, on Christmas Eve. I guess we were dropping him off after the funeral? I really don’t remember. A few days before my grandma’s surgery she told me she never thought she’d live to see 2000. :( New Year’s was pretty crazy that year, being 2000 and all. I opened my time capsule that I made in third grade. There really wasn’t anything profound in there.
2000:
I had my confirmation. We joined the Disney Vacation Club and went on a Disney Cruise. Cory got married and we went to his wedding in Nebraska. My dad got a new car, which he still has. We adopted Buffy :) I was Buffy (the vampire slayer, not the dog) for Halloween and our HS class went to Fright Fest. Apparently I got pretty upset when Gore didn’t win the election.
2001:
I was kissed by Jerry O’Connel on TRL. I took Latin with Little Sophomore Person. 9/11 on Meredithe’s 16th birthday. The JUB :P None of you know what that is anymore, that’s so sad. The JUB started it all. I installed greymatter. I got my Little Jornada 720 for Christmas. From one of my blogs: “See, my dream job would be me sitting at home working on a webpage or whatever they’ll have 10 years from now with my pjs on and the tv eating some chicken nugets with all four of my dogs sitting next to me.”
2002:
We bought the house in the Poconos. Ah, the Belrin blog. At some point the blog was hosted on blogger. Installed b2. No more Lissy Land, SilverCPU was born. Ha ha, the stupid Prom awards I thought of. That got my site a lot of hits. My battle with Feature Price. I got my license and my mom’s car. I learned C++ in SUPA Computer Engineering. I took AP Physics and AP Calc. We had super long lunch + studyhall periods. Farscape was canceled. Rachie and I met Virginia Hey :D I made a mouse car in Jr Engineering. Saw Jerry on Last Call with Carson Daly. I got into Rutgers. I wrote The Evil Squirrels. My computer crashed and I lost most of my files.
2003:
My final project for computer engineering was this Kiss the Frog game, it was adorable. Krissy and I finally got into the Spring musical, Guys and Dolls, but we didn’t have real parts. Our choir sang at Lincoln Center and we won the gold. Saw my first Broadway show on that trip: The Producers. Went to NYC with Krissy and Rachie and stayed at The Plaza. We were in a car accident in the Poconos, only time I was ever in an accident. I went to prom with a guy I barely knew. I won the programming award. I graduated HS and started college. Rachie and I were roomies. I lost a lot of weight.
2004:
I lost more weight. My car died and we sold it. Rachie and I saw Wicked with our parents. Had a CS exam the day after we came back from Disney and it sucked. I thought I was going to fail Data Structures, but I got a B. I skinned my site which apparently I thought was a big deal. My IE broke, so I switched to Firefox, or rather, Firebird. Had my wisdom teeth+1 removed and started with my implant. Opened my gmail account. Moved into the Busch suites with Helen and peoples. Farscape came back with a miniseries. Bush got reelected. I met Ben Browder, Anthony Simcoe and Gigi Edgley at a Farscape convention. I got gifts from a random crazy guy that found my website. He turned out to not be that crazy, but weird and annoying.
2005:
I started doing my yearly summaries which makes this a whole lot easier! Rachie transferred and I was all alone at school :( For some reason I decided it was a good idea to take a semester of all CS classes. I joined MySpace and Facebook. I learned Prolog is absolutely evil. I got really sick in June. I found out later it was because of the Aleve I was taking to help with my cramps. I went on seasonale which I still think is the best dren ever! We helped arrange the surprise visit of Shawn to see Krissy. Had my first boyfriend, first date and first kiss. I got straight As.
2006:
My room finally got a makeover. New wallpaper, new floor. Snakes on Plane! I met Bryan. I love Bryan. I got so excited about seeing him one day, I dropped my laptop and the screen broke a little. We played World of Warcraft when we couldn’t be together in person. Rachelle and I tried to volunteer at The Red Cross, really, we tried. We visited Columbia because I actually thought I wanted to go to grad school. Then I found out people were actually interested in interviewing me, so that went out the window. Went to Melanie’s wedding in Vegas.
2007:
I finally switched to WordPress. Went to Colorado with Bryan to visit his dad and I learned skiing, is in fact, not for me. I got a new used car. I graduated college with highest honors. Bryan and I moved into the apartment. I started working at at&t and on the wonderful (not) DBOR project. Rachie and I saw James Marsters at a horror convention. We went to Bryan’s cousin’s wedding in Ohio. I got an iPod Touch.
2008:
Zyrtec went OTC and I was able to afford it again! Bryan took me to see Avenue Q. I did my own taxes for the first time. I wrote my first WordPress plugin. Work peoples had a surprise birthday party for me. I was progressed. I worked on NCD and then RUBY. Passions ended, but it was a happy ending. Went to Chrissy’s wedding. Bryan and I got engaged at Disney. Obama was elected president. Spent hours and hours doing online CP09/strike duty training.
2009:
I had way too much fun wedding dress shopping. Went for CP09 training in CT and TX. The free food was awesome and had so much fun with my coworkers! I finally went to the dermatologist to do something about my acne. I enjoyed interviewing people. We went down the shore to see Melanie. We went to Chris and Rae’s weddings. Upgraded weblogic at work and it was pretty crazy for a while. Got my new laptop! Got stuck on the superman ride at Great Adventure for a few minutes. I auditioned for the wedding show in NYC. Princess had surgery to remove a seven pound tumor. She’s been much better.
Seems so short when you condense it down like that…
You’re nuts. I can NEVER make a list like this! Hahah. Well, maybe the early 2000s… Otherwise, it’s LOONG! =P
Your car died and you sold it. LOL! Did it ever run again, or did you sell it dead??

well, it was just the battery that died, but it was the second time. Sold it for $400.
When did we meet? I have no mention of you in any of my blogs prior to 2005, but I must have known you at least a year longer than that.
Hmm, the oldest comment I have for you is dated back in early August 2005, BUT I had Greymatter installed back then and didn’t get it exported over to WP. So I don’t remember. Have to look back in my Greymatter archives. =P
I have the same problem. I deleted all of my comments in 2007 because I had too much spam.
Dear Heavens…I can actually remember you blogging about a lot of that. I’ve been coming here for way too long! lol. Not that that’s a bad thing, of course. =) Your decade was FAR better than mine. You’ve accomplished things that I still haven’t…which is most embarrassing for my age!
I didn’t think it was short at all. I was just sitting here reading like dang! Your life seems pretty interesting, fulfilling and eventful. I wish I could say the same!

Many things happened over the years for you!! I’m surprised you still are able to remember in details about that!! But then again… I’m someone who would probably be able to do that as well. totally for the decade, some special things have happened, regardless good or bad.
