This one hundred push ups thing was off to a good start. I had no trouble following the program until I got to week 4. I only got to 25 push ups on the fifth set on my third attempt, but only because I rested like four minutes before the last set. I started week 4 over again today. I did 29 in my last set, but I rested 2 minutes before I did it which is still more than the 60 seconds recommended. We’ll see how I do Wednesday. Need to build strength before the big move on Sunday!

I called Cablevision today. This is how the conversation went …
Me: Hi, I’m moving and I’d like to transfer just my internet service to my new address and cut off service at my old address.
CV: Are you thinking of using a different service provider?
Me: … We were thinking of switching to satellite.
CV: May I ask why?
Me: We’re not happy with our cable service, we get lines on the TV when we’re watching HD, the sound sometimes gets out of sync, the volume gets loud during your commercials …
CV: Have you called to complain?
Me: … Well, no …
CV: Those could all be problems we can fix. If you stay with us, I can give you a discount, $89 for TV, phone and internet!
Me: We’re not interested in phone service. The promotion’s only good for a limited time.
CV: But you can cancel phone service after a year!
Me: No, that’s stupid. (Well, I didn’t say it like that)
CV: I can give you just TV and internet if you sign up as a new customer for $70!
Me: I don’t know, I’ll need to ask my husband.
CV: I’ll give you a discounted installation fee!
Me: I’m asking him now.
CV: You should get DVR too!
Me: No thanks.
CV: It’s really nice!
Me: He said we can stay with you if that’s what I want, I guess since we can always switch.
CV: Great! That’s what I always say!

So, I wasn’t a total sucker. It’s the same price we would have gotten with satellite, but we don’t need a contract, so we’ll switch if we change our minds. I refuse to ever get phone service for only a year. You have a phone line connected that you never use to save money? That just seems really dumb. I really hate that you have to pay $7 extra for every cable box, which you need for HD, but it’s the same with satellite.

Saturday we moved more stuff and then went to Darian’s birthday party. As usual, I ate and laughed too much, which usually gives me the hiccups. I didn’t get them until Sunday afternoon.

Sunday I went to visit my mommy for mother’s day. I have no money, so I helped her get this program working on my old laptop, but the laptop’s gotten worse since I last used it, so she’ll probably need a new one anyway. Buffy and I chased eachother around the house. She must have taken one crazy power nap ’cause boy did that dog have energy. She also has a new, funny haircut. They asked my mom if she wanted them to shave the “skirt.” My mom didn’t know what that meant, so she said no. Now Buffy has a mohawk on her tummy.

  1. Oh man, push ups… Don’t even talk about that… LOL! I don’t know how many I can do, probably 10 at the most… Haha!

LOL! Sounds like Comcast!!! =P Except that I think with satellite, it’d more expensive than with Comcast, since we have both internet/cable TV… =/ Stupid cable companies always wanting people with bundles. That’s pretty much the only way you can get discounts. Yeah, cable boxes. =/ We’re forced to have one too.

Haha, a mohawk on her tummy? I really can’t imagine that… Haha.

  2. Thanks for the gift card! It came through perfectly.

I hear ya about the cable thing. I hate having to pay so much for cable. We only have the VERY basic package (I’m talking 6 stations) and we pay $20/mo. It’s insane. We won’t be in school long enough to get anything that requires a contract and our new apartment complex doesn’t allow satellite. Guess we’re stuck with Comcast…

  3. I think that’s pretty good. Hell, I don’t even think I can bust out with 10 pushups in one session!

Cable companies crack me up, most of the time their service sucks. Nowadays it makes me want to just cut my cable off and catch up with things online. You can practically watch anything online nowadays anyway. Cable companies are expensive and half the time their service sucks and there’s nothing really good on anyway. Don’t even get me started on those limited time offers, stupid.

  4. OMG!!! Pushups!!! Sounds like a good program and I guess it can’t hurt to try .. I will try!!! Thanks for the link!

Cable Companies — oh my, we have Comcast and the get an F for customer service. Not from us in particular — that is their real customer sat rating. Sooo bad. When something doesn’t work, like our DVR — they give us a new one, which is actually and OLD one that works worse than the previous one. So after about 3 months of back and forth, we cancelled that service. Then they upped their prices…wtf, so we said we were going to leave them, they really didn’t seem to care. So we hung up… called back and got someone decent. New plan for the next 6 months then we have to go through all this again — Just gotta be persistent to get what you want. I’m scared to leave and start up a 2year contract with Dish or something. I have friends who have it and HATE it. I don’t know anyone who loves their cable company except for some FIOS people.

  5. I can’t do push-ups to save my life. I can really only do the girly ones with my knees on the floor…and even then it kinda hurts my knees. LoL. Upper body strength isn’t my thing.
