Back to the Future!

That was the single greatest movie experience of my entire life.

Julia and I were about an hour early, so we got great seats, though the theater has stadium seating, so there really aren’t any bad seats, but we were right in the middle.

We were talking about Star Wars and Serenity and the guy in front of us turned around and said I had really good taste in movies. I made sure to talk about Bryan a lot after that ;)

They had a trivia game. I knew all the answers except the one about how much gas costs in 1955. Apparently I have a life.

Then the movie started and everyone started clapping and cheering! The movie was loud, like really loud. Things like papers shuffling hurt my ears, though the parts that were supposed to be loud weren’t so bad. It was very strange. Either I got used to it or it got better because I didn’t notice it after a while. Huey Lewis stated, “I’m afraid you’re just too darn loud.” And I thought, yes, yes they are.

It’s amazing the details you miss when you watch something on a smaller screen. And the fun of watching a classic movie like this with a huge group of fans. It was just so much fun. When they clapped when George punched Biff, it was like it was happening for the very first time.

The movie itself is a piece of art. How many movies can keep you totally engrossed after 25 years and so many viewings? Every time I watch, I’m still afraid he won’t make it home. It just seems so improbable! I mean, Doc is up there on the clock tower and the darn wire is totally stuck on the tree. He can’t do it, there’s no way he can do it, he’s not going to make it this time, he’s not!

  1. Is it just out in selected theaters only? I tried looking for it around home and around where my fiance is. Apparently, it’s not playing back at home and November 8th is when it’s coming down to a drive-in where the fiance lives. I really do miss the ride at Universal Studios =(.
